ALDI is joining the ranks of retailers targeted by scammers on Facebook. This hoax includes stores like Family Dollar, Kohls, Costco, Home Depot, Lowes, Kroger, Best Buy, Macys, Olive Garden, Publix, Target and Walmart.
Check out what to do if you fell for these Facebook coupon scams!
Sorry, but it’s not true and the coupons are fake. Trying to use the coupons could be considered coupon fraud.
If you’ve seen the 40% off voucher to “Start Your Holiday Shopping” at local grocery retailers, beware because it’s a scam.
Survey scams like this are all over on Facebook:

How it works:
- You see that your friend got a HOT coupon on Facebook
- You click to get it too (exciting!)
- You must connect with Facebook, then answer MANY surveys and in the end you get nothing!
Because, after all, the coupon is a FAKE! - The rogue app posts to your Facebook wall claiming there’s a free coupon to continue the cycle with all your friends
What to do if you fell for it:
- Delete any posts on your Facebook account about the fake coupon
- Remove the app from your Facebook account {here’s how to remove Facebook apps}
- Change your Facebook password
- Most importantly: I’ve seen MANY friends post these with “it can’t hurt to try,” or, “it’s probably not true but worth a shot.” That’s why so many people are affected, and actually it does hurt to spread these. It puts your personal information in the hands of scammers, and scams like this have been known to load malicious software to your computer which expose your financial information such as credit card numbers (lots of possibilities!)
Why do people do this??
They are trying to go viral, gain access to your info and have you answer survey questions so they get paid. There’s a LOT of money to be made in scams! They trick social media users into providing personal information and recruit others to do the same.
